I have had a few jobs subbing in the past week which have been so fun. Both jobs have been at my old school so it makes it even more fun. Since I don't have a class of my own I have to rely on others for pure kid entertainment. Well, today the joke was on me. I was having kids come up to the board to correct sentences. They could only correct one thing then give the marker to another student to find a different mistake. A few kids were up there at a time. In this particular class there are twins. I could have sworn this kid was up there FOREVER! I finally said, "You need to sit down because you have been up there WAY too long so maybe let's let someone else come find a mistake." He said, "I just barely got up here. That was my brother!" Oops! I laughed and apologized. I have never been good at telling twins apart and this story proves it.

Mmmm Mmmm Good!
Yesterday a few of my friends and I took a cooking class from a friend in my ward. My friend owns a cafe which is sooo good. She taught us how to make French bread. While we were making it she suggested other uses for this particular dough. Besides the typical French bread loaf, we made Foccacia bread (which was heavenly). I didn't bring any of my supplies to make it because I invited myself at the last second but I wanted to make it that afternoon for dinner. I made one loaf of French and then Foccacia bread. Here are a few comments that I heard that night at dinner (all from Jason):
"If people knew you made this, they would be impressed!"
"You need to make this every time we have Italian food!"
"I know what you are bringing next time we have to bring something somewhere."
"This is so good!"
I just love hearing things like that after making a meal (and spending lots of time making the bread). It wasn't too bad but you have to mix it every 10 minutes for about an hour or so. So, I just did my housecleaning during the mixes. Kill two birds with one stone, aye? Anyway, it was a success. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the finished product. Next time!
Here is the link to the cafe my friend owns that is divine! Anyone up for lunch when it reopens (which I heard is soon)?

New Do!
So, as you all know I have been dreaming of a "new do" for my living room. Thanks to my good friend, Heather, and Jason it finally happened. As I mentioned earlier, Heather came over one day to answer a question and the next minute we found ourselves moving my couches. If we had not done it then it would have never gotten done. Thanks, Heather, for the inspiration and affirmation that it went well (I wouldn't make any moves without her consent). Jason basically moved everything else and put the curtain rods in. I just bought everything that we didn't have (dang it...I HAD to go shopping!).
Drumroll, please..............................................Here are the finishing touches of our "new" room.

I LOVE it! It looks and feels so much better than before. If you didn't know what it looked like before, I basically just switched where the tv/couches were to where the piano is now (and vice versa). I still have a few ideas up my sleeve (and one day I'll get a flat screen put on the wall), but I think I better move on to Junior's room. This only took me 2 1/2 years to do. Junior comes in just a few short months so I better move quickly. Wish me luck! I need all the help I can get. Heather...you busy?

Will work for food!
I'm up again so what is a girl to do...blog of course! I am getting kind of worried that I won't sub as much as I thought. Yes, I understand that school just started and from once being a teacher, getting a sub right now would be CRAZY! Personally, I wanted my students trained before ever thinking of taking a day off (plus I thought I was the only one that would ever think of missing even 2 days in the first week or so...remember last year's dilemma). Well, all of those thoughts changed yesterday.
I made "substitute" business cards to put in all of the teachers' boxes everywhere I go. I also plan on putting up a sign in each workroom. I figured I would just do that after I worked there once. Well, I finally got my business cards in the mail so I decided to go to my old school (just in case they didn't have my number). I got to talk to my old principal and the gals in the front office. It was so fun talking to them but I got a little worried. They were saying how many people (that used to work there) have already been there to sub this year. Argh, it hasn't been me! (Oops! Did I say that out loud?) I was completely surprised because they have only been in school two weeks! Yeah, it's been THAT crazy with this new program that the state is enforcing. My principal said, "We are already tired!" The secretary said, "It's been that bad...crazy in fact! Everyone is confused, but we are starting to settle down. People are starting to count the days down until October break."
So, a few thoughts. First, I am so glad that I don't have to stress about that anymore. But I think that I miss the people I worked with and the kids. Second, I'm kicking myself that I didn't get in there sooner to advertise my skills. Third, I guess I need to do some leg work and get my butt out there on the campaign trail for some jobs.
Jason: "But it would take as much gas money to drive there to do that."
Kate: "Do you want to be moving furniture around your whole life? I need to start making money because all I do is spend it!"
Jason: silent and gives me a hug (does that mean I'm right?)
So, if you are a teacher or know of a teacher that needs a sub, tell them to give me a call. I will be working in the Mesa, Higley, and now Gilbert districts. (I decided to apply for Gilbert yesterday).

"I hate to ruin your day."
This is a common phrase I get to hear whenever I go to the dentist. No matter how well I brush or floss, I am doomed to have a cavity, or worse, a root canal. Luckily, I have siblings that have sympathy for me because we all have bad teeth. Well, yesterday I went to the dentist. I am no stranger to dentisty because I actually go every year or every six months (and have to keep going after my cleaning due to much needed work on cavities). I have been dreading going to the dentist since February because I had already had a root canal and crown put on in January so I knew I didn't have much left with the insurance company.
I really hate going to the dentist because I never hear good news. I always feel like crying because as they talk I just want to say, "Take all my savings! I hope you can buy your kids something special." I can just see the dollar signs in their eyes because I am a cash cow at the dentist office. They love me there (and it is not because of my bubbling personality)! Sometimes I feel like they are just telling me to do these expensive things on my teeth just because (Jason feels like that even more every time I go). What Jason doesn't realize is that sometimes these things are painful if I wait too long!
So the verdict is...I have decay spots under some BIG fillings that either need to be replaced or have crowns put on them to slow down the decay process or else they will turn into root canals. As I am trying to hold back the tears, the doctor shows me with his camera where the decay is and the multiple options I could do. I'm glad he showed me what he saw because it made me more likely to trust him. He even gave me prescription toothpaste to try out. Plus it doesn't help that my gums bleed more when I brush and floss due to pregnancy hormones. I won't be able to do everything all at once but little by little we will get this mouth of mine in better shape.

Not sure?
I think I have contracted a disease. I've read all about it and several of my friends have gotten it to. I've heard about when you are pregnant there is a disease called nesting. I've got it BAD!!! The other night I think I got about two hours TOTAL of sleep. Yeah, I was a little mad but I got over it. Yesterday I felt fine but this morning I could have slept the extra six hours I didn't the other night.
I've been thinking about the right nursery items, how to paint the room, etc. I have way too much time on my hands (I realize that) and am ready for school to start so I can start subbing. Jason made the comment, "You are getting bored aren't you?" I think this came from the other day when he came home and part of the furniture was in a different place (thanks to my friend for inspiration and helping). I couldn't move everything due to my disability of not being able to lift heavy things like a piano. So, my house is currently under construction and is driving me crazy. I kept thinking about that as well. Way too many things to think about in my life...hence not being able to sleep.
Here's how it all ran down:
-Bed at 11:15
-Looked at clock at 12 (wondering "What the heck am I still doing awake?"). Went to computer to look a few things up for nursery and right down thoughts so I would stop thinking about it.
-Tried to fall asleep with no luck until 2:45. Decided to go downstairs to watch T.V.
-Nothing on T.V. so turned on a flick that was recorded "Save the Last Dance"
-Couldn't fall asleep to that because guy is too cute in movie
-Started reading book (for sure that that would do trick). Nope! I started yawning so I thought I would try the sleep thing again.
-went upstairs around 4:15. Finally I fell asleep around 4:30 or so and woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed around 6:45-7 or whenever Jason woke up.
I basically ran on fumes yesterday! I think our little boy is preparing me for the months ahead (even though he isn't the reason I was awake). I've only felt little flutterings but nothing that would keep me awake. Maybe I need these nights once in awhile to prepare me for motherhood!
