Soccer class

Yesterday Wyatt took a soccer class. Not sure who was happier....Jason or Wyatt. Isn't it a rite of passage for a dad to love having a son to throw, or in this case kick, the ball to? We are just making dreams come true around here. I signed up for a free trial class with B.E.S.T. (Beginner's Edge Sports Training) through Active Moms magazine. And boy did Wyatt have the BEST time of his life.

We went to Walmart the day before to buy a soccer ball. Ever since then he has been obsessed with playing soccer in the backyard. Wyatt wanted to wear his soccer shirt that day. He then pretend called everyone he knows to tell them he was going to a soccer class. We got to the class and he was a little shy but after a few minutes he started to run and didn't stop. He was the best one in the class! I'm a little biased but the other two kids were only 18 months so Wyatt was just more developmentally ready.

They had him practice soccer stops, cone relays, obstacle courses, kicking the ball, running after hula hoops, running around noodles, parachute, and more running. I tried to take some pictures but seriously he wouldn't slow down. Plus I forgot the good camera so we have crappy phone pics. I took a movie but I'm working on uploading it. (Anyone know how to upload videos from iPhone 4?)

So, if anyone is up for a soccer game come on over. Wyatt is up for the challenge.

Wyatt's Loves

Besides his mommy and daddy, Wyatt is loving several things right now. Here is the list:

-"Cereal with marshmallows"-aka Marshmallow Matey's/Lucky Charms. He literally eats them almost every morning. I try to throw in an egg when I make them for my breakfast, which he will eat, but he asks for them every morning. So, I make him say, "ARR, the Mateys" when he eats it. He loves this because he is also obsessed with pirates.

-Speaking of food, he is in love with chicken nuggets and asks for them every meal. Must be our addiction to Chickfila.

-Thomas the Train. Kind of an annoying show but he loves it. And he loves his trains that he plays with every day. He makes tunnels and has them go under it.

-Wyatt loves his independence! I will beg to differ sometimes with this love but at least he is trying to figure out this world.

-The big red barn at the zoo.....aka the petting zoo. Of our two years of membership we have only gone a few times to the petting zoo. 1. Because I hate how dirty it is and I didn't want to take a crawling baby in there (remember he didn't walk FOREVER). 2. I'm slightly scared of the goats. Like today, how the biggest goat there about made me pee my pants because it kind of sneaked up on me. Yikes! But Wyatt loves it! He sits there and talks to the goats and today I found him kissing the goat. Yuck. But boys are all about dirt so let him be a boy, right? You better believe that I sanitized his hands and mouth.

"No Binkie"

We are a binkie free household!

I told you I would find something else to use this sticker chart for. I was getting sick of fetching binkies from underneath the crib for naps and nighttime so I decided now was the time. Plus, Wyatt didn't even need it to fall asleep. In fact, he basically just used it because it was part of the routine. So, let's just say it was a pretty easy wean.

The first day I had him throw "a" binkie in the trash. Little does he know there are a ton behind the crib still. After about the second day he was totally binkie free but I just kept putting stickers on the chart to make a big deal of it. Big deal indeed! We went to Target to pick out his prize when the chart was all stickered up. He had so much fun looking at all the toys. Decisions are hard for two year olds so I helped him a little. He picked out a Thomas the Train toy named Salty that has a motorized engine. A little boy's dream. He loves it and plays with his trains every single day. He usually doesn't want to leave the house because he would rather stay and play with his trains.
I'm glad to have that milestone behind us. Now on to bigger things like big boy beds and potty training. Okay, not that soon but within the next year....or when WE are both ready. hehe

I'm in Love....

With it being the week of love I decided to post about some things that I am loving right now. I'm a copycat because I saw this on a friend's blog so sue me.

First, I'm loving my Paint Pot. My sister gave me some MAC makeup for my birthday and I'm in love. I've decided that even though good makeup is expensive, it is totally worth it! Sorry, Jason. I'm a believer in primer. I use it before I put on my Bare Minerals foundation and I truly feel it makes my makeup stay on ALL DAY. Enter the Paint Pot. This is primer for your eyeshadow. Oh my! Such a difference. I don't even have to reapply if I'm going somewhere that night....even date night! Run, don't walk to get it.

Second, I'm in love with stripes. I have gotten a few new shirts and all of them have stripes. Go figure! And they are horizontal! I never thought horizontal stripes are flattering but I get compliments every time I wear them.

Third, my CHI straightner. Need I say more.

Fourth, my iPhone and all the apps to go with. I especially heart the NikeTraining app. It gives me fabulous workouts at the touch of a button.

My Little Errand Buddy

I have the best helper around!

Jason turned 34!

Last Thursday, Jason turned the big 34! Too bad I was sick so we couldn't even celebrate. I had dreamed up a great surprise but things were looking like it wouldn't happen. Jason already knew what his present was so I wanted to make his birthday somewhat fun by getting balloons and bringing them into his work. Well, I got sick, I had a dr. appointment, and I wasn't sure of his plans.

But gosh dang it! I was going to surprise him. I even took Wyatt to the dr. with me so he could join in on the fun. Well, even though it didn't happen the way I had planned in my head, it still happened. I had to basically tell Jason not to leave work because we were almost there. Wyatt surprised him with balloons! I wanted to embarrass him in front of the whole floor but too bad everyone was out to lunch. :( Jason was flattered.

The rest of the night was a bore. I don't even know what Jason ate and we just plopped down on the couch. Poor guy! Hopefully next year will be better.

A few nights later, my health was restored and we were able to celebrate our birthdays with some friends. So, glad that I had planned a get together to help redeem myself from his actual birthday night. We had the Winsor clan over on Sunday to celebrate all the February birthdays. It was such nice weather so we could all hang outside. Wyatt was in hog heaven running around with all his cousins. Wyatt and Jason had fun ordering "Daddy's Birthday Cake." BTW-Jason is a lover of Basha's birthday cakes. I was planning on making a really good homemade one but due to illness I told him to go get his favorite. I know....I'm a great wife!
Happy Birthday, Jason!

Being sick is for the birds.....

It all started Sunday night.

I knew we would be making a trip to the doctor when Wyatt woke up twice screaming. Yep, another ear infection. Luckily it is only the first one of the season but they usually hit Jan./Feb. so we are right on schedule. I should really be a doctor because I can tell every time. Who needs 8 years of school? Antibiotics here we come.

Then on Wednesday morning I went in to get Wyatt out of his crib and he had just thrown up. I heard him. It scared him and he was ghostly white. So, visiting teaching was cancelled and a morning full of cartoons was on its way.

A few short hours later he was his old self again. He has been fine ever since.

Cue more sickness. This time it was me! Ugh! I don't know if I have ever been more sick in my life. It all started on Wednesday night when I got a fever and horrible cough....like cough up a lung cough. I never had any "episodes" of things coming up or out but I just was down and out for the count for three days.

Not sure if Wyatt has ever watched so much tv in his life but he was a trooper. Jason really helped out as much as he could too. I dragged myself to the park a few times, literally, so Wyatt could get out and burn some energy.

I'm so glad that we are healthy. Not 100% yet (at least for me) but we are getting there.

Phew! It was a rough couple of days.

National Celebration Month 2011

aka FEBRUARY!

As we all know I am in love with all things February....okay I'm slightly biased but a girl can love her special day, right? And it doesn't hurt that Jason's bday is this month too so we celebrate ALL. MONTH. LONG. The celebration has begun so let me give you a recap thus far.

I wish I could say that Wyatt threw me a party but he just hasn't learned the art of planning yet so I threw myself one. We invited some of his cousins and aunts to join us. Of course, we got Chickfila for lunch but due to inclement weather we came and ate it at our house. We played lots of games and had fun chatting about anything and everything. The party was fully equipped with a "How Well Do You Know Aunt Kate" quiz and a hot potato/heart game with Happy Birthday music. I threw in some Valentine coloring pages and candy hearts which soon became the hit. Later that night we topped off the birthday celebration with a free Pazooki at Oregano's. My favorite! Oh, and Jason was so sweet and got me a new Garmin watch that I am in love with. Seriously, it is so cool! Sadly, I didn't get too many pictures because I was busy throwing a party.

Then we had a SUPER Sunday watching the game and having family over to celebrate our birthdays. We also have a few other members of our family that are every so lucky to have their birthdays in February so we let them in on the celebration too. :)

Can't wait to celebrate Jason's birthday next.

Ode to the Groundhog

Yesterday the Groundhog didn't see his shadow. An early Spring is on it's way. But here in AZ we kind of hope that cooler weather is here to stay before it gets to sweltering heat. I must say it has been FREEZING here lately. I shouldn't complain because of all the people who are stuck in the middle of that horrible storm but it's just a little shocking. I have busted out my big, fluffy coat a few times this week. I'm secretly liking the fact I get to wear all those clothes I keep "just in case."

Groundhog Days seems to be almost every day/week here at our house. I would never trade my ordinary/Groundhog Dayish days for anything. I love routine! But it is nice to change it up and do spontaneous things or make each day fun. So, I decided to have a fun Groundhog Day Dinner. One thing that would have made this meal better would be eating it on the ground. :)

What a great kickoff to our February celebrations!

Right now....

Right now I am:

-making my Superbowl Party shopping list
-catching up on Google Reader
-decorating my house for February....birthday banners, hearts, and lots of love.
-and listening to my child who is binkie free for naps/nighttime (for two days at least) talk himself to sleep. Okay it has been over an hour and it is bugging me to death! Hence the real reason for this post.
-praying that Wyatt takes a nap and continues to nap. My sister gave me a scare two hours ago saying that sometimes kids don't nap after binkie is taken away.
-I'm rethinking this "No Binkie" sticker chart.

Wish us luck over here!
