Choked up every time

As many of you know, my dear friend, Lana Hollingsworth was attacked by a bear in June.  About a month later she passed away.  Wyatt and I prayed fervently in every prayer for her and her husband.  We were in Utah when she died and I missed the funeral but I shared the sad news with Wyatt.  Obviously, a two year old doesn't really understand death.

A few days later he was saying a prayer over breakfast and blessed "Mommy's friend to feel better."  It took all I had to not cry.  It was so sweet.  Well, Wyatt's prayers are pretty repetitious so he still continues to pray for "my friend that got attacked by a bear to feel better."

I kind of get choked up every time.

Pioneer Day 2011

I usually go to Utah just after Pioneer Day but this year I was able to celebrate in the festivities. I totally made it a weekend affair. We went to Heritage Park (This is the Place monument), the Days of '47 Parade, and saw the movie 17 Miracles. It was so fun remembering this time in history. Jason was jealous because he LOVES Church History. He also hates how in AZ no one celebrates it. So, he said he wanted to come next year. :)

trains trains and more trains

While up in Utah there were three positions you could have seen Wyatt in multiple times throughout the day: at train table, laying down watching the trains go around, or standing at coffee table.

It is safe to say that he was obsessed.  Grandma Kathy even bought him some train tracks and a few trains to feed the addiction.  The obsession lives on but is intermixed with CARS still.  On one of our last days in Utah, I decided to take Wyatt on a field trip that included a train......TRAX.  Wyatt had the time of his life.  But his favorite part was seeing the SLC Temple--another obsession.

Grandma Egan

I just love this picture.  This is Grandma Egan, better known as Wanna (that is what I called her when I was little).  Wyatt sure loved spending time with Grandma Egan.

Utah....a trip of firsts!

We spent a chunk of our summer in the homeland, aka Utah.  This year was our longest stay yet but well worth it!  We stayed three weeks and with a gorgeous view like this some people ask why I even left.  We missed Jason terribly so we just had to come back.  Besides having the annual list of things to do and see, this year marked a few firsts for us.

First, I drove instead of flew.  I loved it!  My mom drove up with me and I drove home by myself.  We had so much fun gabbing away about everything.  Wyatt was a trooper and was on his best behavior.  On the way home I drove solo.  So, I just kept everything within easy reach.  I even made a little trip out of it to see my friends who live in Vegas for a night to split up the drive.  The best part about driving is that you can leave whenever you want oh and you have your own car to do whatever you want.  I actually stayed a few days longer than planned so that was nice.

First cotton candy. Wyatt had his first taste of cotton candy.  Do you think he liked it or what?

First hike without backpack.  We went on a hike with my mom, SIL, and cousins.  Wyatt did well, for a two year old.  Sometimes I forget just how little he really is.  I ended up carrying him a lot of the way.  It was the hike up by the Temple Quarry trail.  So, everytime we saw the granite rocks we called them "Temple Rocks."

Thanks Utah (and my mom) for a great trip.  I always love coming back.  It will always be "home" to me.

We are baaaaaack!

We are finally back from our rendezvous to Utah.  I will post pics and posts soon.  This past week has been crazy getting back into the swing of things and blogging has been at the bottom of my list.  On the list but just near the bottom.  But for now, you can read my "other" blog to see what I have been up to this past week.

I went RAW.

So, go here and read all about it.

Crazy summer

We are having such a fun and crazy summer that we don't want to return to reality, or 110 degree weather.  So maybe we will stay away a little longer even though we miss our Daddy.  You will just have to wait for more posts in the future because we are having WAY too much fun to blog.
