Wyatt is a good kid. Plain and simple. Everyone who watches him ALWAYS tells me this. But I won't lie we have our moments. Yes, sometimes they are few and far between but other times I wonder if they will stop. Hence the reason we have time outs. But overall he is a happy, go-lucky kid.
We are always telling him how fabulous he is (when he is happy, of course). We share how much we love him and appreciate how much he helps us.
Well, the other day on the way to church Jason was telling Wyatt how great he was.
Wyatt replied, "Then why do I have time-out?"
Obviously, we addressed his question but what three year old says that? It about blew my mind when Jason told
me the story. He is too smart for his own good I tell ya.
Love that kid.

Tale of 4 S's
These words sum up our lives lately: stuck at home, stress, swords, and smiles.
Jason
-works from home full-time after getting a new boss while on FMLA.
-Gets cabin fever extremely bad. Join the club!
-hates the fact that his room is next to nursery where babies will be crying it out for naps soon.
-got to see Batman with a friend
-is the best daddy/husband
Kate
-stressing over twins' sleeping and eating schedule
-Stressing over how much tv time Wyatt has and trying to entertain him in other ways
-stressing over not losing weight
-stressing over Liam's flat head and the fact a helmet could be in near future
-Crossfit: need something to release stress
-despite all the stress-loving all 3 of my babies
-has greater love toward Jason
Wyatt
-in nap transition
-says lots of funny phrases while figuring grammar and vocabulary rules out.
-always has a sword in hand...or down his shorts to keep near if any danger appears.
-loves his siblings and is always playing with them. Even wants to hold them like I do.
-excited to start preschool in a few weeks (this should be on my list too)
-wipes his own bum. LOVE!!!!!
-attends summer movies with cousins
-has lots of playdates with friends and cousins. Saving grace for me!
Elizabeth
-is getting better at going to bed for the night. Jason is in heaven.
-always looks SO adorable in outfits especially with a bow. Love having a girl.
-gives me the biggest grins in the middle of the night. So hard not to kiss and play with her then. Okay, not that hard but you know what I mean. :)
Liam
-love his googly eyes
-has major crandle cap and dry forehead. At least his cheeks have cleared up. Thank you Lansinoh!
-has a flat head on the right side
-started smiling

Trust in the "Sleep Bible"
I'm losing hope and feeling frustrated. I'm wondering if I will ever sleep again. In the middle of the night I HATE waking a sleeping baby just because the other one needs to eat. During the day I hate to wake up the baby that just fell asleep, after a lot of coaxing.
But I do it anyway.
I'm putting my trust in Dr. Weisbluth. He was spot on with Wyatt so I'm following his twin book. I'm trying my hardest to get these twins on the same schedule but it's not always easy.
Here is what's going on right now at two months (I'm documenting because I called my friend with twins and she wishes she had written it down because you really do forget):
Feedings
-last feeding is usually between 800-930. Then Liam usually wakes up around 11-12 due to gassiness (I think). The past few nights I've
just rewrapped him and stuck binkie in. It holds him off for awhile. Once he showed me he could go 5-6 hours I started doing that.
-around 2:00 am I feed them. They go back to bed easily. They wake up usually 3-3 1/2 hours after that.
-then during the day I feed them every 2-2 1/2 hours. It's a full time job! Don't even try to add Wyatt into the mix. :)
Sleeping
-After a feeding they stay awake about 45 minutes or less during the day. It depends on who was up for awhile before feeding.
-Liam is easier to get to sleep most days so then I put him down. He is sometimes tired before Elizabeth too.
-then it's on to Elizabeth. Dr. Weisbluth says, "One down, both down. One up, both up." She takes FOREVER to put to sleep. And when I lay her down she wails.
-in the meantime Wyatt is begging to play, sometimes Liam squirms and cries so I pick him up and try to play with Wyatt.
-one baby usually ends up in a swing because I just don't have that many hands. And there goes their ability to fall asleep on their own.
-and Liam only sleeps about 45 minutes with Elizabeth less than that sometimes. No wonder she sleeps better at night and Liam is up more.
-then the cycle continues
I feel like I'm ruining them. I just want to wave my magic wand and have them both sleeping 12 hours and taking beautiful naps. A girl can dream!
They have been napping in the dining room downstairs but I'm going to start putting them in their cribs. Hopefully that helps and maybe I could lose a pound or two (don't even get me started on that) going up and down the stairs.
I know I'll look back on this someday and laugh but for right now it's difficult. I'm SO ready to have them cry it out.
And to top things off, Wyatt is totally in nap/no nap transition. He will take one every day but he stays up late. He comes out of his room several times but is pretty quiet. His "quiet time" will just have to be cut shorter than usual. And I just won't stress over if he sleeps or not.
Wish us luck (and say a prayer or two)!

An Open Door
Ever since Newport, Wyatt likes to sleep with door open. I think it eases his anxiety of being afraid of the dark better.
I on the other hand hate it! He keeps coming out because he can hear us or the tv. Plus, I'm paranoid he is going to hear babies all night and wake up.
The other night when Jason went to console a crying baby he noticed someone had beaten him to the punch. Wyatt was standing up on the crib shushing the babies and saying his famous phrase, "It's alright, Elizabeth (or Liam)."
So tender! But how am I ever going to let them cry it out?
Time to turn up the sound machine.

Birds of a Feather
When you spend time with people you tend to like what they like. First, it was CARS. Then Buzz. And the latest was Ninjago. Well, move over Lightning McQueen there is a new obsession in town.
Wyatt spent a week at the beach with cousins and now is fully absorbed in Angry Birds and Star Wars. What?! I promise he isn't ten.
Even though Wyatt doesn't know everything about Star Wars, he is in love. He thinks there is only one Jedi Knight and really doesn't know who Master Yoda is (yet). But we are fully equipped with lightsabers and I have found I double great as Princess Lea or Darth Vator depending on the day.
And the Angry Birds obsession sure does help during my MANY nursing sessions. It's fabulous!
May the force be with you as it is us.

Another week at the beach has come and gone. Some people thought we were out of our minds taking newborn twins but I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had the chance.
