AIMS!!!!!

For those of you who don't know what AIMS is let me explain. It is a series of stupid tests that the state/feds use to determine how smart my students are. Okay...let's be honest! These tests are ridiculous.

Today ended Day 2 of testing. We only have two more days. I come home exhausted and all I do is watch these poor kids take these tests and walk around making sure they are bubbling in the right number they are on (foot massage anyone?). Plus, it is very stressful looking at the test questions and the answers that some of the kids put. I just cringe inside when they mark the wrong answer. Although I would totally lose my job (and chance of ever teaching again), the thought always crosses my mind, "Can't I just help this little soul out?" I so wish that I could tell them, "You might want to change #15."

Oh the dreaded AIMS! All I can say is that I've done my best.

BTW...if any of you read the post about Carmen the Bilingual (who is my student who still says "she" instead of "he"), you will laugh to hear that she was the third one to finish the reading test today. There is NO way on Earth she could have read all of the passages and questions as fast as my ELP and white kid did and do well. Go figure! Oh wait...I forgot, she is bilingual! LOL. She is the one that I wanted to tell the most what questions to change.

Good luck with them! I'm sure your students will rock them!! And BTW, we love Red Box as well.. or whatever vending movie machine is closest to our house.

It's funny about those fast finishers. Of the four sixth grade teachers, three classes unexpectedly took the entire morning on the reading test and had to change their testing schedule (it was harder than they thought it would be). The fourth class zoomed right through reading AND math before lunch. Hmmm. Wonder who will get better scores?

You crack me up! I would totally be tempted to "urge" them to re-think an answer too. I'm sure they'll do you proud.

I could not agree more!! I hate AIMS. Lucky me though, my sub had to do it for me! Man I planned that right!
