Bisbee or Bust

For Spring Break we went on a trip down South to see parts of AZ that I've never been to. We went with Jason's family to Kartchner Caverns, Tombstone, and Bisbee. We had a lot of fun despite the fact our little family took turns being sick with the 12 hour stomach bug. Seriously, I could have done without that (obviously, I got it the worst or maybe just at the worst possible time).

Our first stop was the Caverns. We walked all through the caverns viewing every stalagmite/tite there was. The coolest part was the finale presentation at the end put to music to see the famous KublaKhan.

That night we went to Tombstone to eat dinner and spend the night. The next day we got up and toured Tombstone. This was my favorite part. Picture Wyatt Earp meeting the Sheriff for a shoot out in the middle of the town and that is what the town looked like. It was a little western town in the middle of nowhere where everyone "dresses up" that enhances your experience so much more. Horse carriage rides, shoot outs, western gear and guns, and old time photos all over the place. Good times were had by all. I got to feed my picture and costume addiction by getting an old time photo taken of our family.

Then it was Bisbee or Bust! The weeks leading up to the trip we kept telling Wyatt we were going to Bisbee with Bugsy (his cousin's nickname). It was so fun to say that so once we were on our way we started saying Bisbee or Bust. Our first stop was the hippy town of Bisbee. Smell of "hippy treats" smoke filled the air and decorated cars lined the streets. It was a very colorful town. Our next stop was the Bisbee Mine. Wyatt got scared when the guy tried to put a coat on me. Wyatt doesn't want anyone messing with his Mamma! (Okay, maybe he is going through another stage of stranger danger). It took him some time to calm down but he eventually did and wanted nothing to do with the mine except play with the dirt and rocks and, of course, the train taking us in and out.
Off to Tucson to spend the night. Worst car ride EVER for me! I'll spare you the details but it wasn't fun. The next day we sat by the pool in 70 degree weather. Wyatt was begging to go swimming so I geared us up to swim in the freezing "heated" pool. Needless to say it didn't last long but he did enjoy lounging around in his swim trunks catching some rays.

We came home with lots of fun memories of Southern Arizona.

That looks like so much fun! I was just telling Rob that although I've lived in Arizona for over 7 years now... there are still so many places that I haven't been to. And now I really want to go to Tombstone so I can get a cool picture like that taken!

I love that! When do the caverns close? The western pic is my fav. So perfect for you! That is something I thought would be fun to do as a little girl but have never done it.

Good for you guys, going and exploring more of this state. I swear I forget sometimes that there are a lot of "things" and places to go see. Looks like you had fun, in spite of the yuckys. Loved the old time pic.

What a fun trip. Besides the horrible stomach bug of course. Loved the western pic. You look like a 1800's McHottie!!!
