The results are FINALLY in!
(for some reason my run time hasn't been posted until today and I've been dying to blog about this for almost a week!)
I swam, I biked, I ran
I Roxed it again.
Here are the details and then I'll bore you with the pictures. :) I wasn't nervous at all for this race, maybe because I was able to train more for this one than last year. I had two goals: 1. to finish and 2. to beat my time/times from last year. I had so much fun doing it with my SIL, Tiffany, and a bunch of my friends!
Swim: I started to become nervous right when I got in the water. And from then on I just couldn't catch my breath during the swim. Seriously, it was so weird. Maybe I was nervous or maybe it was just cold. Not sure. When I finally got in my groove during the swim, the next wave was already passing me up. I got a tad frustrated but kept going.
Bike: I was so excited for the bike this year because my good, sweet, dear friend (she reads this can you tell?) let me borrow her road bike. I thought I would go faster since last year I had a mountain bike. Okay...it was hard! In my defense, the bike portion is always my worst. I thought I trained okay on it but since the body bugg entered my life I hate doing spinning classes and biking because I don't burn as many calories so I just don't do it (as much). Okay, probably should have done more biking because I was worse at it this year. I'm still kicking myself about it too. After the race I was talking with some friends and I noticed that "my" bike had gears. Who knew? I think that would have totally helped me go faster because often times I wanted to go faster but my little hips would bounce around on the seat (think spinning class with no gear) but I couldn't or I would fall off. Note to self: all bikes probably have gears!
Run: I was pretty confident in the run that I would do better. I have improved my running times so I was hoping that would improve my overrall time. If I got tired I would walk but only for 1 minute then start up again. Totally helped...and the fact that it wasn't 1,000 degrees like last year.
So here are my times:
Swim: 23:16 (over a minute faster)
Bike: 1:00:05 (over a minute longer than last year...Wha?)
Run: 34:19 (over a minute faster)
Total time (with transitions): 2:04:36 (Over a minute faster)
So, I did improve but I wanted to do it under two hours. Maybe next year!
Here are the pics....oh thanks be to my awesome brother with the good camera for capturing my swim and run photos. Also, Jason for capturing my bike with our "sweet" camera too.

Well done Kate! Wish I could have seen you more during the race or even after--but it's a mad house out there! :) Proud of us!
You've also inspired me to blog about it too now that my run time is posted. Yeah!!
I have a goal to do this race now - thanks to you and Dixie! I'm inspired. Maybe next year or the year after!
You guys are all awesome. I wish I lived down there so I could do it with you. Congrats!
Way to go Kate! Yeah, burnng calories or not, guess ya have to actually train on the bike. Just like I MUST train more on running. 'Cause, as we all saw, it's about the run, as that is where you caught and passed me and my slow walkin booty. So fun, can't wait 'til next year.
