Funny Story

First of all I have a disclaimer before you read this. What I might funny is not necessarily what the general population would find funny. I find A LOT of things funny so I spend a lot of time laughing. I can't help it...I'm around 10 year olds all day long. I'm bound to find more than a few things hilarious. Anyway, this week there have been two funny things that happened that are blog worthy.

First, during writing time I like to give a prompt that the students write about for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes I call on people to share. It is a non-threatening activity to just get their minds rolling. The question the other day was what do you hope your life is like in 20 years. This one student said, "I hope I'm as smart as Mrs. Winsor and a professional athlete." I'm not quite sure what I'm doing or saying to make this kid think I am one of the smartest people in the world but I won't stop him from thinking that. :)

Another thing just happened today. A student came up and asked kind of a silly question but I knew that some of the others would ask the same question later so I had him announce what his question was and my answer. When he "imitated" my answer it was so cute the way he said, "Sure." I made him repeat it again. I told him, "I made you repeat it because I thought it was so cute the way you said that." As he was walking away the whole class didn't know what to do. Some laughed, some ahhhhed, but one kid said, "That's awkward!" I lost it. I couldn't stop laughing for a few minutes. Even now as I type it I am crying because I'm laughing so hard.

There you have it! A day in the life of Mrs. Winsor.

I wish I could be a little fly on your classroom wall!
